Understanding Car Detailing
Whether you are trying to sell your vehicle, or just want to get it back to looking like it did when you drove it off the lot, car detailing is a good place to start. While detailing does not include painting or cosmetic repairs like dent removal, it does make the auto look great inside and/or out. It will be up to you whether to have just the inside done, the outside done, or the whole vehicle detailed. Before you head out to a detailer, here are a few things you should know so you get the job done the way you want it.
Inside
When the inside of the car is being detailed, you can expect to have it cleaned out of trash and vacuumed. If the floor carpets or upholstery are soiled, they will also steam clean it all to ensure no stains remain. In addition, they will also use special products on the dashboard and inside portion of the doors to make sure there is no dust, dirt, or anything sticky on them. The detailing company has different tools to ensure they can clean into the tiny crevices in the dash, doors, and between the seats. If there are a few small tears in the headliner, they may also fix those as well as any minor tears in the seat upholstery. The trunk will be opened and cleaned completely as well, including vacuuming and steam cleaning if necessary. Finally, the inside of all the windows will be cleaned and free of any streaks.
Outside
When detailing the outside of a vehicle no portion will be overlooked. They will make sure all dust and dirt are removed from the sides and top. The tires will be scrubbed so they look new as well as the rims and hub caps. However, they will also pull off the hubcaps to clean underneath them. All windows will be cleaned and streak-free. In addition, they will open the hood and steam clean the engine and its compartment.
Do not think it is a waste of money to have a car detailed that has a few dents and scratches. You will be pleasantly surprised at how much better the vehicle looks when it has had a thorough cleaning. Not only will it look better, but it will also smell better too. You and your passengers will be more comfortable when in the vehicle and you will feel a bit of pride when driving people around in it.
